Visit to Kinsale – May 2010

For those of you who have not yet made this extended weekend trip, it really is most enjoyable and the hospitality by our hosts is outstanding.

In May this year we will again to making our annual trip to our friends at the Kinsale Motor Club, Southern Ireland. As usual this will fall on the weekend after the May Day Bank Holiday i.e., 7^th to 10^th.

Arrangements for this year are very much in their early stages and people can of course make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. However, Mike Palmer will be making arrangements with the new Swansea to Cork Ferry and using his usual charm to hopefully negotiate a discounted rate for SHVR members. Due to the new ‘running’ times of this crossing we will be departing on the night crossing on Wednesday 5^th and most of us will return on the night crossing of Tuesday 11^th. I am sure if some members wish to shorten or extend these times, it could be arranged. In respect of accommodation, there are various places to stay, however, for those interested, Peter Jenkins has negotiated with Friars Lodge a rate of 55 euros per person per night and the single supplement will be waived. This rate includes bed and breakfast with ‘off road parking’, something rare in Kinsale! As you are aware we are again taking our Annual Trip to Kinsale in May this year and although members may well wish to make their own accommodation arrangements, Peter Jenkins has again arranged a favourable rate at the Friars Lodge – 55 Euros per person including Bed & Breakfast and Off Road Parking.
